Housing
One of the greatest assets of Cleveland Heights is its beautiful and historic housing stock. From homes listed on historic registries, to whole neighborhoods of iconic mid-century modern architecture, to perfect modest starter homes, there is a perfect home for every person. It is the responsibility of city government to protect its assets, and housing is no different. In order to protect, maintain, and enhance our housing stock, City Council should:
Review housing code ordinances to ensure they are equitable and updated to current best practices.
Enhance and communicate programs and resources for homeowners to comply with ordinance and code enforcements.
Fully staff the housing department.
Investigate the elimination of the point-of-sale escrow requirement for home buyers who will be owner-occupants.
