City Services & Infrastructure
At its most basic, city government is about the delivery of city services to residents and the provision and maintenance of necessary infrastructure. There has been some enhancements of city services for residents recently and some setbacks. The community has raised concerns with bulk pick-up, access to recreation facilities, and deferred maintenance of city facilities.
I understand the challenges of maintaining city assets and delivery of city services in a legacy inner-ring suburb, but as a long-term resident, I believe Cleveland Heights can deliver best-in-class city services and well-maintained infrastructure to residents. I also think this can be done in a fiscally responsible manner.
City Council should:
Support current council initiatives for a sidewalk program.
Advocate for a salary study to determine whether compensation adjustments are required to fully staff city departments.
Support a review of alternative funding sources for recreation facilities.
Budget allocations to address deferred maintenance at city properties.
Investigate the purchase of additional equipment to provide for timely refuse and recycling collection.
