Fiscal Responsibility

Cleveland Heights is a bedroom community whose main source of revenues come from income taxes levied on residents’ income. Given that, I believe it is incumbent on the city government to be as transparent and communicative regarding its budget, financial reports, income statement, and balance sheet. I believe it is also necessary for the budget to break down income and expenditures per department and category for transparency to our residents. Therefore, City Council should:

• Investigate joining OhioCheckbook.

• Review the decision to discontinue use of OpenGov for reporting of finances.

• Advocate for financial reporting by department and category

• Advocate for quarterly financial reports to be available on the city’s website.
